OnGrid Solar Power (PV) financial analysis:

Think about it, different tax rates, loans, solar designs take more than a "scratch pad" financial analysis.

After discussing solar power with a few different contractors, are the figures a little conflicting? We use the most sophisticated financial program available for evaluating the financial side of solar. The OnGrid program will give you the real story on payback, IRR, loans, rebates along with clear graphs for easy understanding of the implications of using solar to offset your electric bill. Also included in this service is an overview of what to expect and solar PV information to help you decide which contractor to use. Most of the time charges for this service are about $195. Combined with other services we offer discount packages. The contractor you choose to do your project might be more than willing to reimburse you for this cost of consulting for your solar install, why???    The information that you gained from our consultation helped you choose the best contractor, their company!

Thinking about solar energy for your home?

Green Compass, inc. consults residential owners for a very reasonable amount who are getting ready to install a solar energy array on their roof or property. The introduction of very generous incentives from the state and federal government for installing a solar panels has created a high demand for solar systems. It has also attracted many new contractors and marketers who want to supply the work. How do you as a consumer differentiate between the good contractors and not so good? Should you pay more just because solar is the rage?

In my opinion the  popular pay though your taxes  PACE / AB-811 programs have the potential of creating a "boatload " of "upside" down solar installs, why is that? Because it will be marketed as a "little or no money down" option for installing solar. Again my opinion,  just like vehicle purchasing and real estate purchasing, when consumers are offered "no money down" some get sloppy and don't check the details. If you as a consumer make a mistake, it will last for 20 years at about 8% interest for all to see on your real estate taxes, is that what you want?. Solar installs have often replaced the family car as the second largest investment a family makes. Shouldn't you get a consultation that the contractor of your choice might reimburse you for? Patrick "the crusader"

Why do a consultation? This industry is growing by leaps and bounds, why, because for some it's a "no brainer" as to the value of a PV solar system. The problem is that the bad people and the inept want to be part of this too! Recently I heard of what can go wrong with an install. A person got solar  installer to "zero out" her bill unfortunately she was sold a system that did that only too well. Her system ($40k) produces twice the power she needs so all the excess goes to SDGE free! She still gets a small SDGE bill to cover fees. Her original bill I was told was less than $100, she probably was not an outstanding candidate for solar. Another rumble I hear in the industry is people being sold PV solar arrays that are way too small and represented to them as being the right size. The big "surprise" comes with the first bill, long after the contractor is paid! Are you "tax sensitive"?  An uninformed decision could cost you many thousands of dollars.

It's smart to know what you don't know about solar!
